I Cannot speak to the MultiFace II specifically
but on my HDSP9652 in
the upper and middle rows I pan all my odd channels hard left and all
my even channels hard right. My outputs are legion, headphones on
A3-5/6, mid-grade speaker set 1 on A3-7/8 and studio monitors on
SP-L/R. I can pan hard left by taking an even channel and pushing it
left, and hard right by taking an odd channel and pushing it right.
Work for me.
OK, I'll experiment with the outputs. Ultimately, I need to have two
outs for the monitors and 2 (or more) for the headphone amp. I had the
exact same setup for the Delta1010 and it worked great (although the
RME seems to sound a little cleaner through the headphones).
By default, my setup is exactly what you describe, 1, 3, 5, 7 are hard
left, 2, 4, 6, 8 are hard right. Muting channel 1, I get a mono sound
through both speakers that sounds 'in the middle' (which is not
correct). Muting channel 2, I only get audio out of the left channel
(which is correct).
