Greetings,
Searched the list archives but found nothing appropriate, so I thought I would
just ask.
I am a metal guitar player. I like a heavily saturated guitar tone. Could
someone point me in the right direction for processing a clean guitar signal
in real-time such that it can (even partially - i like weird sounding stuff)
emulate tube circuitry. I am thinking a chain of LADSPA plug-ins would do
the job. The sound im looking for doesn't have to emulate anything to a T,
it just has to be raunchy (think Nine Inch Nails - Broken, or any Nine Inch
Nails album for that matter).

i reckon you should run your axe through jack rack using the steve's swh
ladspa plugs

Theres a ton of odd modulations and distrtions in there, helpfully lumped
together by jack-rack.

hehe ... greets Steve. and if anyone's wondering, i did use that plugin
on a track. I'm trying to get it cut onto vinyl at the moment. I ended up
using it to make a spiralmodularsynth bassline sound really sweet. So
its quite a flexible plugin!

Ok, "Barrys satan maximiser" is the dirtiest nastiest thing I have ever heard
and I love it. I've been using soft pad sounds on my synth with barrys
satan maximizer and a low pass filter - i am in total heaven. Perfect for
that "where have i gone wrong in life" feeling.

Yes.
I also played around with the "tape-delay" stuff - makes it even more
unpredictable. Love it.
I am organizing a demo "tape" of about 6-7 songs. I will post on the list
when its complete (the first song is done, its called Flux Capacitor, you can
find it on my site in the URL below). My goal is to write/produce/master
everything in Linux. I will also document my trials and tribulations for
everyones enjoyment.
I have a very diverse musical preference, so it should be interesting, but not
totally "indie" sounding (I prefer more popish sounding music - huge nails
fan, though I don't intend on ripping nails off).
