Hi Friends!
I've been more or less absent from this list the last years (oh, so many
new names here!) but do want to say hi again and maybe share some songs
and projects with you. I'm currently making a living with music (mostly
as a mixing engineer), which in my case means that I'm too often totally
broken, but things are slowly getting better and better. I do all my
work on Kubuntu with the KXstudio repos connected to it. Well, here we
go:
My self: A Journey
==================
I love, play and works with almost any kind of music. This is a sort of
musical shamanic drum journey. If the beginning is too boring, just
start from around 2 minutes. I'm playing guitars, bass, and drums ( +
drum sequencing) here. DAW: Mixbus32C. Video edited in Kdenlive. Yes,
the video is a real amateur work, but that's the way it is.

Malin Larsson: Hälsingevalsen

Malin was in my small studio and recorded a demo cover for the Swedish
folk-inspired song, Hälsingevalsen. I play all instruments here as well.

Ola Stinnerbom: Sapmi Power

Ola is a South Sami native and yoiks to traditional, EDM (as this song
is) and many other music genres. I mixed and mastered the whole album
this song belongs to and several singles he has done. Mixed in
Mixbus32C.

I like this piece. The drum sounds really impressive. The recordings
also sound good and crisp. It would have been lovely if the rest of the
arrangement had gotten a bit more weight in the mix.

Malin. I think she found a good producer/engineer in you.

This production has a nice bass. It really transports the almost trance
like aspects for me. Was it a conscious decision to mix the vocals so
quietly? It was a little surprising. :)

Yes, Ola (the client/artist) felt bad about putting the vocals more in
the front and I did not manage to change his mind, I guess he felt too
naked. It's a pity because he does, in my opinion, have a very good
voice when one let it out and does not need to hide behind the
instruments or use any thickening tricks. Well, maybe next time if any.
Luckily, the voice easily cuts through the mix.

just extras. I could, for example, add more bass and take those
frequencies from the drums, but that takes away the whole hypnotic
feeling of the drums and that does not work for the audience: people

listenings, but that was my first impression after the first two.

Thanks for your comments! It's one guitar to the left and one mandolin
to the right, the guitar is panned 11 o'clock and the mandolin 1-2
o'clock. :-)

Found time to listen to these properly (don't get older - you have *less*
free time it seems).
These are all good, original and interesting, but it is your own 'A Journey'
I enjoyed the most. Very emphatic drumming and lovely guitar work.
