Hello,
I got Beatrix patched and running, but it doesn't seem to receive/honour
noteoffs: so notes don't decay. I haven't had this sort of problem with
any of the other synths I tried. Does anybody have any idea what could
be the problem. It is in no way urgent, but I find it odd.

not treat noteon with velocity=0 as noteoff. Try the attached patch.

Hi,
not entirely related but did anyone approach the author about GPL:ing
Beatrix recently?
I know I did, about half a decade ago, at which point he said he would
consider it if he no longer has any interest in it (not sure of his wording,
think that was the gist though). Last release was a very long time ago...

As I understand it, the software (much developed since the
last release of Beatrix) is now part of a commercial
"clonewheel" organ, manufactured in Italy. As such, the
author is not particularly interested in relaxing
the licensing restrictions.
IOW, possibilities for future community development of Beatrix
are somewhat limited.

hypothetically speaking: If one would want to fix the denominal bug in
Beatrix' built-in Leslie cabinet: s/he would change whirl.c:951 to
float x = (float) (*xp++) + 1e-30f;
The above JACK/ALSA patch is additive only. Since we are not allowed to
directly "quote" a line from the beatrix source-code, adding the
denominal fix to the patch would render it non-distributable. (Maybe
"float x = (float) (*xp++);" actually falls under public-domain, or
fair-use but I'm not taking the chances :)
