I have two different sized delays that I need to create.
1.) I need a audio delay of no more than 4 seconds. All of the delay plugins
for Jack-Rack create echo. I just need a pure delay or artificial latency
inserted into the jack audio stream (the output needs to be delayed 4
seconds from the input without mixing back the input).
2.) I need a timezone delay of no more than 4 hours. (there are no plugins
for Jack-Rack that do this and my attempt to create one with csladspa
doesn't work... I have plenty of hd space for looped storage.)
Any help would be appreciated. Any code (C++, etc.) that would help me get
this going would also be appreciated.

No. Timemachine just records audio.

I was just curious. Anyhow, these objects use ram, not
the disc.)

So puredata can't buffer 4 hours of data? Is that a limitation of the
available memory or the internal format or what? Ardour can records for
at least 10 hours non stop.
Maybe ecasound is a better tool for this procedure?

A "delay" of four hours can only be implemented involving the harddisk. Unless
you have an incredible amount of ram.
I think a homebrewn solution is to use here. And that is my idea:
One app/script to record to disk and start a new file every hour with the
timestamp in the filename for debugging.
Another app to play the files at the wanted time.
That way any delay bigger then the interval of the first apps files can be
created.

A "delay" of four hours can only be implemented involving the harddisk. Unless

In Jack-Rack, these CMT plugins are not under Delay, but under
Uncategorised -> E (Echo Delay line).

as has been noted, this involves very large amounts of memory (plugin
delays don't write to disk in general).
i don't know rivendell, but if was doing this with playlist-based
software i'd simply set it up using a playlist with 0,1,2,3 and 4
hours of silence at the start of 4 different playlists with the same
material in each. no memory utilitization, no disk utilization. i
don't know if rivendell can do this but i'd be a bit suprised if it
could not.

You could have a look at Rivendell, which is a radio broadcast
automation program - this may have a feature you could use to do what
you want.
