You mean something like this?:

Can't recall that CoolEdit had spectrograms, but a "spectrum analyzer",
as I'd define it, would be Sonic Visualiser.

yes. seems to be really solid piece of software. thanx.
it's very strange that i've never heard about it before, since current
stable version is 1.3
