Greetings,
Does anyone here have experience with rtl-sdr, ideally on Fedora ? I'll
receive my hardware tomorrow, I'd like to get up & running asap, so any
tips would be much appreciated.
I'm on Fedora 23, and I already know about http://rtlsdr.org/ and
http://www.rtlsdr.com/.
Btw, I'm interested in this stuff because of a relevant module for
VCV-Rack (and because it looks like fun).

It depeds on what are you planing to do with rtl-sdr, there are plenty of
use cases with rtl-sdr.
If you are in Europe you can listen to DAB digital radio standard etc.

I picked one up at the Dayton Hamvention last spring. I've been using it
with
Spektrum, osdr, and rtlamr under android and Ubuntu with some success. I've not
seen any output yet that I would consider reliable enough for 'production'
implementation. It's a nice cheap tool for initial survey and proof-of-concept
use.

I'm using the latest Fedora, which has most of the SDR stuff pre-built.
I ordered one of the $20 dongles a while back and found it to be a lot of fun.
Listened to the local FM stations(sounded quite good), and hams talking
on the 400Mhz bands.
The one thing I've noticed the most; is that I need some good outdoor
antennas if I really want to explore things with it.
I also used it to find clear spots in the 900Mhz bands
for some of the cheap HopeRF modules I've been playing with.
Anyway, have fun !

:) Well, you know me, I'm more of a Radio Music/Fontana Mix kind of guy,
but I'll bet Holger would have loved this stuff.
