There is a killer Soft synth under <place favorite pseudonym for proprietary monopolistic OS here> win-dohs! It comes in VST and DXi format. It is Edirols Hyper canvas that runs to GM2 spec and has good control and functionality in the likes of Steinberg, Cakewalk, etc. I'm wondering if it could be run under FST or VST_server and used in <place favorite Open Source OS distro here> Linux in conjunction with Muse or Rosegarden or other sequencer apps? Anyone by remote chance messed with this? I will be doing some experimenting but I have not even got VST server to work properly yet. Thanks

KOOL!! I gave up on this thread...thought no one knew or cared! Does all of the midi functionality work too? And also tone adjust on individual instruments? Guess I'd better try harder at getting Jack_fst to work. Never have had any luck with it or VSTserver... Thanks for letting me know. So I got Jack_fst built last night...after going thru the usual ./configure nightmares. These mainly came down to not having devel packages installed on MDK. (takes that to get the "pkg-config" files in /usr/lib/pkg-config). I already had Thac's "libfst" installed so I built Jack_fst. I used the "fixheaders" script on the afectfx.h or whatever it is that was installed from the fst rpm. It5 seemed to work as it allowed "make" to do just that; Make! :) So...it's showtime.....I run Jack up in the usual manner. I hold my breath anf in a terminal i run "jack_fst Hyper Canvas. I see it hesitating and comes back with " "no such file or directory". Ok...at least it didn't esplode! :) So I specify the full path. (I copied all my .dll vst's into /usr/lib/wine) I run 'jack_fst Hyper Canvas'...{still holding breath} It now returns "cant load Hyper". Hmmm...Well at least it sees it but does not like the space in the file name. So I truncate the file name by renaming it "HyperCanvas". I run it again in same manner...Pauses {face is now blue}...Pops up several windows registry errors in a box labelled "Edirol Hyper Canvas" "Cannot open registry." {1E711428-673C-ETC,ETC,ETC} OK Then terminal responds with; "fst signal handler 11, thread=0x4095c260" "fst signal handler 11, (TEB=0x40a22000)" And then dies....and I finally take a breath! :) I'm so close I can SMELL it! Is this just a permissions issue? fst is clearly talking to Hyper canvas. I tried some othe vst's. Also sometimes get something like "Could not talk to GUI thread" or such in terminal?
