i have to say that i also have not so nice
performance with jack on my
eeepc 4g with a ubuntu-eee. does anybody knows if there is a rt kernel
which works well with the eeepc 4g?
i currently run ubuntu-eee 8.04.

The OSS emulation uses the same ALSA API internally; you should get the
same behaviour if you configure your application, whatever it is, to use
the same buffer/period sizes for ALSA as it uses for OSS.
OK. I saw some applications behave better than some other.
I'll RTFM on buffer/period sizes when the application alow to tweak it,
even if this can increase latency.
