Plutek,
i've been running an RME Multiface under
linux for years with the
CardBus interface. i just switched to the ExpressCard interface, and
am having troubles. before getting into details, are there folks out
there running the RME ExpressCard interface with the Multiface
breakout box successfully? the ALSA matrix says it should be fine.
It should, yes.
if so, what distros and laptops?
Thinkpad r61 - works fine.
the adapter works fine under WinXP -- yes, i
re-installed XP just to test the hardware -- uggh!
Maybe a problem with the driver for your express card slot. The card is
basically the same as the cardbus variant.
got it working -- under Windows, i re-installed the driver, which brought the multiface
back online. after that, the firmware loads successfully under linux, and all is well. i
*cannot*, however, hotplug the ExpressCard under linux -- the multiface status light
behaves as it should (blinks with the ExpressCard out, and goes dark when the ExpressCard
is re-inserted), but hdspmixer comes up with all meters at full-scale, and the unit does
not function.
anyways, it's good enough to work with -- just unfortunate that it seems i need to
keep a windows partition available in case i need to pull the card out of a
"funk" again!
cheers!
