Hi,
I have a Roland UM-4 (Super MPU64) 4-port USB MIDI interface.
I would like to get it to work under Mandrake (10.0 rc1).
Currently, it doesn't seem that the ALSA build that comes with it has
any drivers for USB MIDI. scandrake actually thinks the MPU64 is a
scanner ...
Is there any hope of getting this interface to work ?
If so, how ?
And what sequencer program should I use to record MIDI from a MIDI
keyboard, and playback to MIDI external sound modules ?

Not sure about the latest MDK 10.0 rc1. I have the isos but have not had
time to install and mess with. Seems lots are having issues with Alsa on
2.6.x? kernel?

Yes, it's 9.2 but you might get lucky...I'm NO expert! (Clearly)

You may need to blacklist the OSS module usbaudio (or usb-audio?) in
hotplug. The ALSA module to use with the UM-4 is called snd-usb-audio.
Try modprobing it.
And what sequencer program should I use to record MIDI

The UM-4 is supported by ALSA. USB MIDI devices are handled by the
USB audio driver, snd-usb-audio.
You may need to blacklist the OSS module usbaudio (or
usb-audio?) in

The OSS modules are named "audio" and "usb-midi".
You can see the driver currently being used in /proc/bus/usb/devices.
