I couldn't find any information on the web about burning DVD-A
(DVD-Audio) discs. Does somebody know if that is possible? What programs
and hardware are required?

PS.: I am not thinking about copying commercial DVD's but making my own
24/96 recordings and play them in my living room - if that makes any
difference.

The writer of cdrecord has also produced a dvd version which he sells. A
few other people have taken the cdrecord code and added dvd writing
abilities. However because the main author of cdrecord has already
written code that he sells he will not include the alternative. You can
get the patch relatively easily though. Just search the cdrecord archives.
I wouldn't expect to get friendly advice on the cdrecord list from the
main author if you try to use the alternative code but the authors of
the dvd patch also monitor that list and they are pretty helpful.

New subject: [linux-audio-user] usb-midi midisport strange firmware
Hello
I'm trying to get my midisport 1x1 going. It used to work fine with my 2.4.10 ppc
kernel but now i've got a 2.4.19 one.
when i download the firmware to the device using ezusb2131, all the lights go on and then
it doesn'y work. when i downloaded the same firmware to the device with my 2.4.10
kernel, it worked. I had a 2x2 firmware as well, so i thought i'd try to download that
to the device for a laugh. This downloaded fine and now the midi in on the device works.
The midi out doesn't tho. Interestingly, the midi out light is pulsing, which is what
the /usb/ in light used to do when i used the 1x1 firmware with the 2.4.10 kernel. Has
anyone seen anything like this with a midisport 1x1?
At least the midi in works :)
oh and if anyone else is using this device, i found this page very useful as it showed me
how to set up hotplug to download the firmware automatically:

Yes, you have to use a newer version of the firmware (just tested it a
few days ago). It is available from cvs in the sourceforge linux hotplug
project:

thats sorted it out. now i can fling some midi in and out of pd... gonna try playing my
midi drum kit into pd, capture it, freak it out and pass it back out again.
