I somehow seem to have acquired a non-context sort-of-patch to add JACK audio and ALSA
MIDI support to the orphaned last release of Beatrix. Many thanks to whomever did that!
I had to make a few minor modifications of my own, which, sadly, I'm not allowed to
redistribute either.
Basically I added support for Note On Velocity 0's instead of Note Off's, fixed a
denormal problem in the whirl (the Leslie) function, made the ALSA MIDI reject events on
MIDI channels greater than what it could support, whacked the reverb since I don't use
it anyway, and adjusted the Leslie SLOW/FAST code so that it works with the Modwheel (as
I'm used to from AZR-3, making Beatrix a drop-in replacement for it).
And, to celebrate, I created a small demo:

Please excuse the crappy drumming: I tapped in the drums on pads, since this was all done
in Mplayer and jack_capture, no sequencers used... hence the clipping at the end too.

I talked to him several years ago, my impression was that his main
concern was to keep control of the code base.
Since his last update was a very long time ago his approach clearly
isn't working. Beatrix must be considered dead at this time.
If he cares about patches is definitely in the gray area and best
would be to ask him.

I was one of them.
there was talk sometime back on some other organ-related lists that he
had licensed his code to an Italian company that makes clonewheels
(digital Hammond clones). take this with a grain of salt, but if it
is true, this would explain why he hasn't/won't respond or make the
code gpl.
it's also my understanding that native instruments has discontinued
their outstanding B4 program, leaving those of us who are snotty about
their organ sounds with basically nothing.

Actually, the version they are running is many revs newer than the open
source version available. They hired the original developer it seems, and he
has been working exclusively for them for the last couple years.
I have played with the source code of the open source version and it is very
detailed. If you like a dirty organ with crosstalk, this software models
leakage in all the individual locations separately - in the tonewheel bin,
at the terminal strip, in the wiring loom, etc. You can control the level of
each tonewheel individually also.
The XK-3C is pretty detailed in this manner too, so they are a fair
comparison. But the KeyB Duo absolutely nails the UI perfectly.]
