This happens to me too... I have a Edirol PCR-1 and latest ALSA. I'd
like to hear the solution too.

Yoshimi issue:

but the KBD doesn't show as a Readable client
in the ALSA panel the KBD does show up but Yoshimi does not
in the setting panel in Yoshimi the 'Alsa MIDI Device' is set to
'default'
what is the 'doh!' thing I'm missing here? ;)
You've got Pachage using ALSA MIDI but Yoshimi using JACK MIDI
If you start Yoshimi with the command: "yoshimi -a" it should switch to ALSA
MIDI and conversation can begin :)

Yoshimi uses JACK MIDI by default so it does't show up as an ALSA MIDI
client. To do so you have to start it up as Will pointed out. JACK MIDI
support is one of the advantages Yoshimi has over ZASFX though so it
would be a bit of a pity if you wouldn't take advantage of it.
