Hi all,
A colleague at work offered me to try his newly-bought cheap ($150)
USB guitar. He hasn't tried it himself, waiting to build a workstation
dedicated to it. So I'm wondering, are these guitars outputting
through USB actual MIDI notes as a regular MIDI guitar would (eg. the
Godin MULTIAC nylon string guitars ...) enabling playing, say,
zynaddsubfx from the guitar ?

These are probably just outputting audio data (like the
iAxe). These appear to your PC as an audio sound card (like
a USB microphone would).
I wouldn't expect MIDI unless the vendor actually advertises
it as a MIDI controller.

I doubt that. Every USB-Guitar at a comparable price was simply a badly
built cheapo electric guitar with a built-in USB-audio codec.
