Hello everyone1
Is there a chance to tell jack-dsi-host, which client name to use. I find a
name like:
hexter DX7 emulation (v0.6.2):hexter DX7 emulation (v0.6.2) out_1
rather cumbersome. But I didn't see no options with my jack-dssi-host for
naming.

I've just checked the code and no, apparently there isn't.
It could easily enough be added -- I could do that if you like.
Alternatively, you could try Sean Bolton's "ghostess" which is also a
console-based JACK DSSI host but which has some more flexible options
that I think include this one.

I will try ghostess, I did never suspect it of having a text-based part. If

Mmm, I might be mistaken about that. I have to admit that I've never
actually used it myself, and I remembered it as having a console-only
fallback mode in the same way as jack-dssi-host.
I'll add the option to jack-dssi-host anyway.

I just checked and ghostess doesn't compile without gtk. So yes, it would be
very nice, if you could add the option to jack-dssi-host.

OK, it's there in CVS (gosh, it's been a while since I've used CVS).
The -c <clientname> option gives the client name. If one is supplied,
then the port names are also truncated to just out_1, out_2 etc rather
than named by plugin instance.

rather thick in thehead, for I can't find the cvs command (URL) to use for
dssi on the website. Could you send me that link or complete command, becuase
it has also been quite a while, since I used cvs access on sf.net.

Command:
$ CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@dssi.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/dssi
cvs -z3 co dssi
The host is in the jack-dssi-host subdirectory of that repository.
