do you want to change the pitch or not? Are you using the
"expand" controls in the control panel? (They change the
tempo, and need to be explicitly turned on, whereas the "speed"
controls change the pitch). This stuff should be independent
of the sound card -- it's all done in software.
Yes, "expand" is what I use. Yes, I click the button to enable
expanding. I'm not sure what I did differently, but now it works on
both systems. For what it's worth, here are the cards in each system.
old working system (snd 6.6)
0 [card0 ]: YMF754 - Yamaha DS-XG PCI (YMF754)
Yamaha DS-XG PCI (YMF754) at 0xcd232000, irq 11
new system I thought wasn't working before (snd 7.5)
0 [AudioPCI ]: ENS1371 - Ensoniq AudioPCI
Ensoniq AudioPCI ENS1371 at 0xdc00, irq 18
1 [M1010 ]: ICE1712 - M Audio Delta 1010
M Audio Delta 1010 at 0xd480, irq 19
Well it works and I'm happy.
There is something different with the system running snd 7.5.
When I start snd from command line I get this message:
Loading required GL library /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
I get no such message with snd 6.6 on the old system, and libGL isn't
installed on the old system.
Another odd thing is that if I try to "unite" the R & L waveforms,
then the snd display won't repaint the rightmost 40% of the window.
The old system doesn't have any repainting problems.
Any thoughts folks? Thanks....
