I already asked about this on LKML.  Looks like the -RT patchset still
needs some fixes to work on x64.  You are not the only one anxious to
run it.

But, I think PREEMPT_DESKTOP should work on x64.  I am still waiting for
a reply.

I tried with CONFIG_PREEMPT_DESKTOP=y when I emailed you before.
I just tried CONFIG_PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY=y with no success either.
