I have Ubuntu Studio and a Delta 1010 card... I'm up against a problem and I
am stumped, so I'm hoping someone can help.
The card is recognized, at least jackd can see it and start up just fine. It
shows hw:1 as the M-Audio Delta 1010LT and hw1.0 as the ICE1712 Multi. It
can start using qjackctl using either.
The Envy24 mixer also starts and appears to work fine.
Ardour (the goal) also starts and can map tracks to the various inputs.
Here's the problem. No sound. At all. Nothing. I tried all of the inputs and
the envy24 mixer sees nothing, Ardour sees nothing. I used the patchbay to
patch one of the inputs to one of the outputs and piped my mp3 player into
it - and got nothing on the output.
It's like the PCI interface to the card is just fine and the control backend
works, but the audio section is uninitialized or something.
Has anyone had any luck with this. FWIW, I installed the card after Ubuntu
was installed, so I don't know if the installation scripts would have done
anything differently had the card been there at installation.
Any help would be SO greatly appreciated...

Nevermind. I just found the ADC and DAC control tab on the mixer ;-)
Ardour + 1010 is WONDERFUL.

I installed the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 after Ubuntu was installed, and
it works just great. I hope this brings you some hope.

My colleague just got one for the music department where I work. As a
standalone recorder, it sounds good and is very easy to use.
I tried it as a usb audio interface for my laptop running ubuntustudio,
and it does work. When you turn it on, while connected to a computer,
the h4 will ask to be either audio IO or connect to PC. Both modes work
just fine, at least on my machine.
I have not used it extensively, as we just got it a few weeks ago. The
few test recordings my colleagues and I have made sound clear.

output. I heard this is bad, though, but I haven't yet tried running duplex
through the H4. I'll let you know. It works great with very low latency as
just capture...

I can confirm using it with low latency (PD with 10ms),...
one drawback is that the inputs are always monitored on outputs (line or
phone), so I cannot play concert with my notebook and use the Inputs for
processing without live amplification of the mic :-(
(maybe a sound cancelation, but the computer is to slow ;-))
