hello
if i use OSS module of SSM and set it up to output only i get nice
output
if i set it up for duplex i hear some clicks
if i use JACK module i hear some weird extra harmonics + noises, no
matter what JACK settings.
where should I look for the reason?
NB: if i use ardour + jack i have no problem with or without
duplex.

You have to set up SSM's buffer size to match jack's settings, it doesn't do
it automatically for you - could this be the problem?

and i guess the other problem i had was caused by the same reason - i
had different sample rates in JACK and SSM and LFO's period was
shorter. (all frequencies were wrong, but i only noticed
LFO's). cool.
What's the difference between fragment size and buffer size? And
while I'm at it can i setup the little font a bit larger? or use small
aliased font like the ones from artwiz?

You have to set up SSM's buffer size to match jack's settings, it doesn't do
it automatically for you - could this be the problem?

Sounds like a problem I had. Have you looked at the buffer settings in
SSM? They have to match the buffer settings in Jack.

There are few possibilities to look
at:
1) Make sure the same sound card is used both for input and output. Two
(separate) sound cards never run precisely at the same rate unless they
are syncronized together in some special way. If there is any drift in the
rates this will cause underruns or overruns. Maybe once per few seconds or
minutes.
2) If the system load is too high (or the buffer size set to too
small) then there will be buffer underruns. Each of them will cause a
pause/click.
3) There is some bug in the application logic and it just let's the buffer
to drain before writing new data.
