Hi again!
This time I've got a noise removal job to do... Digital recordings with
a fair amount of tape recorder noise in the background.
I've been playing with sox, but I get these odd 'Space Alien'
artifacts... Can anyone tell me how to use sox properly? Or suggest
something better? Preferably command line, automatable...

It's not command-line, but Gnome WAV cleaner might be useful for you:

Hi there!
Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely be looking into it.
Meanwhile I solved the problem, I simply reduced the gain of the WAV
file I was taking noise profiles from so I can fine-tune better and now
sox works like a charm.
