Now, seriously: Obviously this is not against the
GPL, because it
doesn't hinder you in any way to use the software for devilish
purposes or give it away to a heavy metal freak, it just wants you to
think about, what you're doing by this.
I would imagine that would only encourage producers of hevay metal and so,
its kind of the point, right? Rebellion and all that.
White Metal anyone?
It is however slighty offensive to the aprox. 70% (and
growing) of the
worlds population who are not christian.

Yes, I think the same, but I also think, that this is Paul's thing.
Somehow it even sounds like a joke, but my religious tolerance
prohibits that I say this aloud.
I wonder how people would react if a scientologist
produced a softwynth
and said she only wanted it to be used by operating thetans ;) I don't
view it any differently myself.
I wonder how people would react if an open source collective would
write an O.S. web browser, that must not be exported to Cuba?
(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
If I wouldn't like that my software is used by scientologists or
New-Age-prophets, I think I could say so, as long as I'd still allow
that use. So in this regard I have no problem with Paul's statement.
I'm not religious at all, though, and I would never ever make music
that praised the Lord or Jesus or Shiva or Gaia or anyone else in this
bunch, although I'm quite impressed with some religous music from Bach
to the Beach Boys.
So I didn't download zynaddsubfx, it looks similar to SSM anyway.
ciao
