I'm finding that qjackctl-0.3.0, 0.3.1 and 0.3.1a all use up 49% cpu. My
box is a CoreDuo, so that's probably 100% of one cpu.
qjackctl-0.2.22 doesn't do this, so I've downgraded for now.
If it's a bug, what can I do to help?

it's a known issue on some Qt4 incarnations, specially the debian based
ones, iirc. it has been reported on at least one case that updating to a
different libqt4 makes the issue go away.
unfortunately, i never caught that behavior reproduced on any of my
opensuse 10.x boxes, nor in windows :o)

The only way I could get it go away was to use Enlightenment instead
of Gnome or KDE. I did not change my libqt4. The problem was
consistent not just when starting jack.

maybe profiling is a better alternative
as the problem seems to reside in libqt4 core i can't really tell where to
look, unless you're willing to rebuild the qt4 libraries for debug and
lucky enough to let the issue get caught.

Ok.. I'll see what can do. Funny, I never thought I'd miss the qt3
environment variables. It did make it easy to use different
versions. Once I figure out how it's changed I'll start in.

If it's some compilation options issue, you could try to find out the
configure options use to build the qt package.

Just a note wrt cpu usage display: top shows 100$ per core here, so you can go
up to 200% on a core duo.
