Anybody successfully compiled the latest Audacity v1.2.1? It breaks
spectacularly in the portaudio section for me with all kinds of wxGTK
errors. I have the whole wxGTK environment on my box including the devel
stuff and I haven't had these errors with previous versions.

mmm... it's funny, it fails for me too. never had had problem with audacity
before. i searched the audacity mailing list and nobody complained about
this, though...
anyone?

oh well, i must be growing old...
i deleted the sources directory, untared again afresh, did a simple
./configure --prefix=/usr and make went smoothly all the way. i was trying
to use some completely useless configure options that were obviously only
for trouble.
jack, just for the record, what configure options are you using?

All is fine until it reaches the portaudio section and then it blows up. I
think I'll just wait until the binary rpm appears on freshrpms or Planet
CCRMA.

that was my same mistake. all those options are unnecessary if you have
those libraries installed, they are detected by configure and enabled by
default. follow my advise and delete the sources, untar anew and run a
simple ./configure. what i see when it ends is:
Finished configure:
with libresample
with libid3tag (system)
with libmad (system)
with LADSPA plug-ins
with Nyquist plug-ins
with vorbis (system)
with portmixer
with portaudio v18
with soundtouch
with help
prefix=/usr/local
after that make did work for me, why shouldn't it work for you too? of
course you can wait for ccrma rpms, but don't deprive yourself of the beauty
and satisfaction of using software you compiled yourself...
