Guess I'll get to try it out when I reinstall next week (hard drive is
dying, new drive arrives next week). I want to find the Easter egg that
shows me the developers' faces in glorious 3D color! ;-)

Hey, I just noticed in rosegarden (whatever ver comes w/ ubuntu studio 8.04)
that the import menu shows a 'rosegarden 2' option. Does Rosegarden 2 exist,
or is it still beta??
Easter eggs in FOSS don't really make sense. Too easy to figure out. But do
they exist? :-)

What is now called Rosegarden is actually based on what was Rosegarden
4, IIRC. Before RG 4, there was earlier RG versions. Or something like
that. I glanced at the Rosegarden website, it's been around since 1993,
but I didn't find a real historical timeline. Somewhere along the way,
it got renamed from Rosegarden4 back to just Rosegarden ...

Easter eggs in software aren't easy to figure out of you don't have or
read the source code - so figuring them out might still be fun. ;-)

New subject: Kernel for Rosegarden ?
My Debian etch stable distribution includes Rosegarden 1.4, which complains
every time I open it that the "System timer resolution is too low" and
further explains that "the kernel timer resolution is set too low. "
Ideally, Debian would include an alternative kernel that supports
Rosegarden.
Aside from that, is there an easy fix ?

This is Debian bug #390409.
Ideally, Debian would include an alternative kernel
that supports
Rosegarden.
It appears the Debian kernel team hasn't provided this, but I could be
wrong.
Aside from that, is there an easy fix ?
No. Rebuild the kernel or use a different distribution, or find an
add-on kernel package from others who have done it.

Since I compile realtime-patched kernels myself, I can set there setting
CONFIG_HZ_1000=y
CONFIG_HZ=1000
in .config.
One might check if this can be set in /etc/sysctl or from an equivalent
command line.
