Hello LAUs,
I would like to publish (online, of course!) my "very" old music
adventures, (and hopefully new ones, made under Linux), but in a
Feed/Blog/*cast style.
But after a short research i realized that (at least) RSS and Atom are
suboptimal for my (music) needs. Just look at the Item/Entry Elements:

http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4287#section-4.1.2
some additional Elements would be nice, like:
Cover
Recorded
Released
Album
Track
Length
etc...
and as a CC/FLOSS bonus -> Source :)
(as in source for the ogg/mp3 audio).
So, anyone know of a syndication format tailored for music ?

One of the nice things about XML is that it is eXtensible. So, for
example, Apple defined some special "itunes" tags in addition to the
basic RSS ones, which suit their purposes.

It might make sense for you to use standard podcast RSS, but with the
metadata embedded e.g. as RDFa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDFa . The
CC website http://creativecommons.org/license , for example, generates
a HTML fragment for you with such metadata embedded - you could put
that into the feed items, no problem. I don't know which software
could make use of that information...

(thats why i explicit didn't use that word directly)
Yes, i did some small tests on how "your-package-manager search podcast"
tools display standard RSS 2.0 content as "podcast"... yeah, i can see
some "agreements" on what is displayed/interpreted, but miro for example
has an image "container" for every Item, but RSS 2.0 spec doesn't have
anything hinting to be an image Element in Item... (and Atom 1.0
neither) so do they use that Apple spec ?
But yes, i could use RSS 2.0 (but i would use Atom 1.0), if i only want
users to know the title and filename of an Item (consistently in
"podcast" players)...
Hey! why not use just a plain <a href=""></a> list ;P
I'll test that Apple "podcast" spec on FLOSS tools some other day...
but is this really all (interest) there is ?

I think it's correct in that context. RSS (as in ATOM feed) stands for
"Rich Site Summary". Although some also say it's a "Really Simple
Synidcation". Other uses of RSS are "Root Square Sum" and "Robin
Software Service" ;)

holy sh*t, my failure. i only read the "summary" of that wikipedia page,
and not the "history" where "Rich Site Summary" is mentioned...
and both 2.0 specifications say it's "Really Simple Syndication"...
but what ever, not my interest.
