The school bought against my recommendation the tascam us-366 because it
came in a bundle offer with a microphone.
Any chance that I will get this model to run at all or is it a brick on
linux?

lsusb gives me:
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 0644:8041 TEAC Corp.
can anyone give me hope for this device?

You could try "resurrect" that old thread by asking if the OP managed to
get it working, or if anybody has had good experiences with it since then...
