Dear All,
ANyone used one of these with linux? Couldn't find it's usbid online --
what I want to know is is it worth getting, as in is it supported, have
people found it useful as a controller probably for hydrogen or midi
into specimen? I'm definitely getting a BCF2000 this or next week, but
found a cheap M-Audio and have seen them in action for drums. Haven't
found anything on google yet; if someone does want to point out that I'm
misusing google in this case then I sincerely apologise.

Hi,
I have played with it in the past, before selling it, and it works OOTB
with linux (it is a plain usb-midi device). You can program each
pad/slider/knob to send any cc message. It has polyphonic aftertouch too.

Tested one some years back. Install is pretty complicated:
1) find the usb-cable
2) find the necessary plus on the finger-trigger and your pc
3) connect them accordingly
4) have fun.

Yes, 128 levels, allegedly, but I can easily drum a killer beat on it
without it picking up a single thing, so it should be more sensitive.

I have one and use it on Linux, works plug and play - though I'm not
very good at playing it, I use it mostly as a switch array I can even
hit in darker environments.

I got both the Trigger Finger and the BCF2000. It's standard USB, so
everything works.
I actually bought it without checking what's on the market, because
that's the only unit they had that day and I had itchy trigger
fingers.
After using it for a long time, I'd probably check the market for
something that is a little more sensitive, though. When I "drum" with
my fingers, I tend to have very subtle hits and this unit is not that
great picking up those. I haven't used any other unit, so I don't know
if there exists such a sensitive unit that I'm looking for, though.
It also has some non motorized faders, which really doesn't belong on
a touchpad unit. I'd like more a clean pad unit, such as the korg one
and even something which is rack mountable, if it existed.

Why not? I find them *very* useful to change parameters, and if you
watch the video I posted, you can see some of the more advanced
possibilities that faders on a trigger unit offer. In fact, the faders
and knobs made me buy the Trigger Finger instead of the Akai MPD16 at
that time. I guess, many others had a similar reason, because Akai
included faders and knobw in the MPD16's successor, the MPD24.
(Probably today I would buy that one, as it seems to have endless
knobs.)
