Because who else would even care besides you lot?
After going for years with anemic video cards because the "good" ones
would sound like a jet taking off, I splurged and got an Asus GeForce
GE640 silent. No fans, just fins and heat pipes, and a GPU that isn't
close to EOL already.
Now, great performance on my two monitors and sweet, sweet silence.
And having replaced video cards in Windows machines and having the OS
freak the frak out about a system change, a renewed appreciation for
Linux. I'd pre-installed the nouveau packages from Arch, and once the
new card was in place, two simple config file changes and a mkinitcpio
later I was rocking it.

You are right about me caring, at least. I have had so much trouble with
video cards over the years I'm very glad to hear when one works, more so
when the Free drivers work.
I'd pre-installed the nouveau packages from Arch,
and once the

later I was rocking it.
Which file did you need to edit?

was pure overkill for me. It was cool that it worked though!

Why nuts? that's perfect for sound-design.
one for the editor/timeline.
one for the mixer
one for the video
one for the rest (plugins, terminals,..)
..and then you still want some more for for email, web, IRC :)

I just joined that camp. I don't think I could go back now. At $99 for a
monitor and most video cards supporting at least two (my video controler
should do three, but the MB doesn't have the connector) it just works.

Even weirder that some of the Linux DEs (the KDE in Kubuntu) are starting
to hide that capability by default. I do like the new gnome deal that adds
new virtual desktops as you use them... as soon as you use desktop two, it
adds three.

I think this has to do with the player application rather than DE.
libreoffice impress can use one full screen for display while using the
other for application control. Maybe that works because it is still the
same app in the second window. But it just seems to work for me.
