i am going to hold a small seminar about an introduction to linux audio
in two weeks.
in preparation for that seminar i wanted to ask you what applications
should be presented in your opinion.
so far i want to show off, demonstrating how to do one song with it:
- jack/alsa
- ardour
- seq24
- jackrack (ladspa)
- amsynth
- specimen
- lash (will be a poor performance yet ;)
what else?

So Mjoo must have LASH support then, right? ;)
If you're showing seq24 and lash, you might want to try the following
patch to seq24-0.8.3 that adds LASH support:

It's full support, everything should restore perfectly. Please let me
know otherwise (Rob has that patch and I believe it will be incorporated
in to the next official release of Seq24)

You need to rebuild the autotools crap:
aclocal
autoheader
automake --add-missing
autoconf
Then run configure again.

well, ZynAddSubFx always sounds so smoothe and it looks good, too. and
on that note, Hydrogen if your machine has the muscle.
and freqtweak. that thing is awesome and truely a la origional. (or at
least i've never seen a win32 equivalent)

native instruments SpektralDelay is somewhat similar in some respects,
but not as powerful in many others.

I've shown various applications at last years Linuxtag and I did sync
Hydrogen with MusE via Jack.

good lord. zynaddsubfx looks vomitorial. just to make this clear: this
seminar is being held in front of about 100 windows-crazed
demosceners. :)

Freewheeling is fun -- you can put together something that sounds like
a song in a minute or so, particularly if you've practised some good
loops to play first. You can demonstrate hooking other JACK synths
into it too...

Hydrogen / ZynAddSubFX are usually good for demos. I'd suggest
Rosegarden, but I suspect you're deliberately avoiding that.
Pd is also fun to show off, but may be more complex and may require a
little more preparation. The tutorial patches can be handy here.
