Octave's The Cat was a very close knock-off of the ARP Odyssey, not a
Moog -- to the degree that they were sued by ARP apparently.

Wow, good point. Yes it was a clone of an ARP Odyssey.
It had the same kind of sliders and layout of an ARP. And an absurd pitchbend that was
basically an ordinarly potentiometer fader.
As for what it sounded like, here it is, circa 1984, fed through a horrific array of
distortion-producing *things*:

I red it yesterday. Interesting interview, Roberto, and a good excuse to
listen to "Moment with MonoSynth" again.
BTW: Would love to know the patch for this sound on Calf monosynth, if
there's any in particular
I'm just waiting for the next one with Julien. I did enjoy a nice

all for more money than I could ever dream of making on music, and damn glad to get the
work), so I apologize for not seeing this until now.
I suppose I should just post the patch, since people seem to like it. It was a variant on
one of the default patches; I don't remember which.
Ah I found it. Heh, and yes, it looks like I did actually name this lyrical and evocative
patch "butt trumpet". And I don't see any point in renaming it now. A Zappa
fan to the bitter end, I remain.
Add the below to your ~/.calfpresets (inside a <presets></presets> tag if
there isn't one already) and enjoy. I think it'll appear at the end of the stock
preset list when viewing them.
It was kind of a surreal experience being interviewed but Roberto made it fun and
enjoyable. I hope others step forward to share their stories with him, and I'm looking
forward to reading the rest of the series and see what others have to say.
