Hi,
for those interested, there's a reworked version of lashstudio module with a
new build of muse (v1.0.1) that solves an incompatibility with the 2.6.30
kernel from the main iso of 431. in other words, this release is for the
"real" puppy 431 (based on sfs 4), not for the retro variants like release 2
was.
some changes: besides new version of muse, there's celt support for netjack
(also, since release 2, jack is build against freebob and ffado for firewire
keyboard support), proper patchage icon on the menu and added some missing
ladsapa.
Lashstudio is a quick and dirty, lash centered, setup of applications for
audio and midi. It is packed as an sfs module for puppy linux.

real-time capabilities."
I honestly thought those days were long gone, and that nobody was
running as root anymore. Are you sure this is wise? I'm pretty sure it's
not necessary.

Well, is not necessary and yet it is... ;)
Puppy linux is build this way, loads into ram with full privileges from the
cd or from a frugal installation. Simple as that!
no fear, no sacrifice...

Yeah, running with full privileges solves _so_ many problems! No more need to
introduce privilege-gaining code into the overflow hack code! No more hacking
passwords (just set your own:) And you can easily open a backdoor on a
privileged port that doesn't get blocked by routers and firewalls (like port 22
for example).
Guys! There are _very_ good reasons to _not_ run as root full-time. And there
is an amazing amount of work done by devs to make realtime audio work like a
blizz for non-root users. For your and my safety: MAKE USE OF THAT AND DON'T
RUN AS ROOT FOR ANYTHING THEN SYSTEM-ADMINISTRATION!

you dont need a patched kernel. (for more than 2 years now)
you just need a proper pam setup.
