Hi.
I am in the process of working out the hardware of my
new personal workstation. This time, I'd like to get
a really good multichannel Pro-audio card with at least
96khz sampling rate, 24bit and around 8 analog channels.
I am looking at:
* TerraTec PHASE 88
* M-Audio Delta 1010(LT)
I can't quite decide between the TerraTec and M-Audio.
Regarding maturity of Linux ALSA drivers for these cards, what
would you suggest? Additionally, I couldn't find anything
which explained why the LT version is soo much cheaper. Is
this only about bundled software, or does the 1010lt version
have less hardware features than the Delta 1010?
Any other cards I might have missed which would fall
into the same category?
What would you suggest?

Regarding ALSA drivers, you have the choice between the snd-ice1712
and the snd-ice1712 driver. :-)
Additionally, I couldn't find anything which
explained why the LT
version is soo much cheaper. Is this only about bundled software,
or does the 1010lt version have less hardware features than the
Delta 1010?
The 1010LT doesn't have a breakout box.

I don't know about M-Audio Delta, but about TerraTec I can say only
the best - I have model of the old one, TerraTec 88MT and it works
like charm in both Linux and Windows. Have tested on multiple streams,
recordings - everything is just fine, quality is noticable better than
any average Audigy card.
And I guess I will never complain about ALSA ice1712 drivers, because
they work just fine and have even improved in last years.

The difference is that 1010 is
strictly professional device with
balanced (XLR) inputs/coutputs in a rack unit. 1010LT has unbalanced
(RCA) inputs/outputs (breakout cable). In fact 1010LT has larger number
of features than 1010.

They both use the same underlying driver (which is excellent!) so
either will work well under Linux.
I have a Delta 1010, and absolutely love it. The LT does not have the
1010's breakout box which might make it a tad noisier, and it might be
more inconvenient for you to swap cables if you need to do it often.
I have the 1010's breakout box in the same rack as my mixer, patchbay and
various effects boxes, so it was very convenient for me to go that way.

file for GTK2, simply doing:
$ mv configure.in-gtk2 configure.in
$ autoreconf

The LT doesn't have an external DAC/ADC among other things. You can
also look at the ST Audio DSP 2000 C-Port but with the price drop in the
1010 I'd go with that (not the LT).

Hi Mario!
The 1010lt has the ADCs/DACs on the card directly and the outputs are only a
bundle of cables, the big 1010 has an external box for AD/DA conversion and
I/Os.
I've used the 1010lt for a while now and it works VERY good! Has done so
with alsa since 0.9.6 (even in text-based alsamixer there are all controls!)
