Hi there!
Does anyone know of a good piece of software (command line or GUI) which
lets you edit (and especially split) MP3 files without de-coding to WAV?
Any suggestions very welcome, thanks...

Hi! Thanks for your reply... I tried audacity but it didn't do the job
without re-encoding, can you tell me how you did it?
(I assume the long importing wait means audacity is decoding to 32bit WAV)

Even though everyone has already posted their personal favorites, let
me remind everyone that MPEG coding is generally stateless - you can
grab the stream anywhere and it'll be a valid stream, modulo some junk
at the beginning or end.
My favorite MP3 splitter is dd ::-).
