I see at least 3 possibilities. Some (LAU) emails are either:
- being discarded by Google before they reach your Gmail account; or
- being moved/discarded within your Gmail account, but not due to
Thunderbird; or
- being moved/discarded locally (e.g. within Thunderbird or its local
mailstore), and because Thunderbird is syncing its state to your Gmail
account on Google's server via IMAP2, the moves/discards are also
reflected when you log in to the Gmail web interface.
To rule out the third possibility above, you could try leaving
Thunderbird, including any background mailbox sync, switched off for a
while - perhaps a few weeks. (Likewise any other email clients you may
use for your Gmail account.) During that time, you would have to access
Gmail solely via the web interface. See if that stops the issue.

Did you check the above points?
I do have a (thunderbird) filter since years which
moves emails with
to, cc LAU email address into a 'sub-directory' and that is working on
(after) email which is incoming (including e.g. this one, which did
come in...)
In principle that shouldn't cause deletions. Investigate other
potential causes first.
- Gmail's
recommended IMAP2 (or POP3, if you are using that)
configuration: confirm that this is what your Thunderbird instance
is using.
It is, and everything works well in Thunderbird
Are you using secured IMAP? (If not, there's a (small) risk of
corruption in transit - e.g. an MITM. Would be v. weird for an MITM to
delete LAU emails, though, so this probably isn't the problem here.)
Also check:
- Is your Thunderbird up to date? Does the version you are running
have any known bugs causing mail to be lost/hiddden?

I'd be cautious in 'blaming' a thunderbird bug, also because these
aren't reaching the mailbox (e.g. in the gmail web client)
