Hiya
I downloaded some free language lessons that are mpeg4 files (extension
.mp4)
so far I have found nothing that will play them, nor convert them. I
have sox and lame, neither knows this format. Audacity just exits.
I'll need to convert them to MP3 so my daughter can play them and do the
lessons.

any advice?

Mplayer or xine. Both play mp4 files here with no troubles.
