Hello all!
Well I can't demonstrate laziness and unproductivity, when there's so much
creativity and new music around. So I've done another Johann Sebastian. Again
it's an arrangement of a praelude from teh Well Tempered Clavier.
It the Praelude in E Major from WTC Book I. Instruments used:
Aeolus
LinuxSampler with the PMI Historic Keyboards harpsichord
Korg Triton for strings and oboe
jconv for the reverb
AND OF COURSE
Nama for the recording.

Wow, that's really nice, Julien. Sweet work, I'm sure Johann Sebastian
would be happy with the arrangement, it's the kind of thing he'd do.

Thanks Giogio! I hope to record one of my compositions sometime in the near

Well Dave, as J.S. was a religious man, I'd say: God protect me from P.D.Q.!

Oooooo so nice the sound! The reverb really makes it sound like I'm
listening to instruments in a good-sized room. Only rough spot seems to
be the kind of abrupt end - the last two chords seem to just suddenly
cut in and almost feel rushed. At about the same point, what has been a
solo oboe sound throughout the arrangement suddenly turns into an oboe
playing a chord?

The oboe plays two notes at the end, that's right, but there are times
before that, where she does it. So you could say it was two oboes all the
time. As to the rest, well it maty be, that I did the retardando a little bit
too abrupt.

OK. I guess I didn't notice the earlier appearances of two oboe notes.

Thanks for your music! I don't have anything in digital format good
enough to share, and my very old stuff (back when I was a real musician)
sits on cassette tapes while I have no working tape deck. :-(

Simple as can be. :-)
It's good to hear, that you like it. That's why I did it, to create
something someone might like and enjoy. Bach has such a pieceful effect on

To be honest, I have an Bach youth trauma...
My dad is an Bach freak (especially Glenn Could) too, and when we where
young, hell breaks loose when we, as kids, where making to much noise at
Sunday mornings.
But I start to appreciate Bach bit by bit now ;)

Hello!
That's such a pity. His music is so full of love and faith and Bach himself
was said to be very kind with his kids. There's a tale, that he would take
care of his chldren's needs, like chaging dipers and such. He just put a
child, where there was some space and once there was a note sheet underneath
the child. He just said: "Oh well, little one, now you've peed all over this,
but it doesn't matter, we can just write that again."
Btw.: I too love Glenn Gould, very unique feeling for the pieces he played
and a very unique way he has of interpreting the pieces. So just remember,
that Bach, even while working, had enough kids around him, doing all the
things kids do. :-)

If I remember correctly he also did a stretch in the local pokey for
beating a student in the street.
When another student complained that his pieces were too hard to play he
is reported to have said "Just put the right fingers in the right place
at the right time and the instrument plays itself."
In every way he is one of my greatest heroes. ;)
Btw, do you know why he had so many children ? (It's an old joke.)
Then of course there was P.D.Q., the "last and certainly the least" of
his many children.
I too love Glenn Gould...
Me too, though I admit that these days I'm more attracted by his
eccentricity than by his playing (which is of course magnificent).

Don't worry. we always played a lot of
soccer on Sundays too. The whole neighborhood loved that, everybody
could join :) The old days...
Another story about me and Bach.
We did go to church on Sundays with the whole family, and there was a
woman of middle age sitting always on the same spot (you know how that
goes) and she had hair like Bach has, long Grey curls (I saw on the
gramophone record at home). So I convinced myself that she was Bach and
I believed it for a long time :)
(I can't remember if I had negative feelings about here, but I don't
think so, cause it was a kind woman who always gave some nice big
peppermints :) )

Unlike musicians in these post-Romantic-period times, it was OK to be
normal. ;-)
