Hi,
probably all interested are already conscious, but if not - since few days
there is available new release of Renoise,

with really revolutionary features:
* Multiband send device (which allows to send channel to 3 routes -
depends on range freq!)
* Beat slicer
* Improved Automation (finally Renoise are automatise parameters for full
song in fancy way, snap them to the beat and so on).
It's still beta - but with Renoise quality - besides of few bugs its free
from memory laks and crashes (yesterday was working on song in 12 tracks +
7 vst instruments + loomer + one ladspa effect) and Renoise survice longer
than me.

From Linux users point of view some things are still
missing (LV2 support
+ Jack Master Transport problem - I heard that Jack developers
has been
contacted since its not exactly renois issue), but for sure it is really
mature Linux DAW.

Wow, that's really cool! I use Renoise for all my tracks, but I
haven't upgraded in a while (I still use 1.9 a lot because the speed
of the arpeggiator wasn't working for me in 2.1). But I'll definitely
have to check out some of the new features.

Few hours ago there was new release - beta2 :D
I started using it with 2.0...
But the gap between 1.9 and 2.7 is huge - no lua scripting, no
automatisations, no pattern matrix, no osc support..., no sidechain!
With 2.5 and duplex almost all my midi controllers are automagically
detected, and live sesion with Launchpad novation - well....
Dude, how can you still use 1.9? :P

we have not been contacted.
please describe the problem. and since nobody has problems with the
transport api. i think its their problem.
anyways. if i had the source i could fix it.
i dont. they HAVE jacks source. so its their job to point at the
problem.

that was a mistake.

i don't remember it happening.
from reading the report, its not really clear what is happening/wrong
(other than the symptom).

Translation: making a complicated program like Renoise

time comming out on top as the all-good-opensource-heros with a
statement like that.
So this was not saying torbenh is this kinda guy. And it might be me,
but I feel that every time a closed source app is discussed around here,
there's always this tone of lack of respect for both the app and the
guys using them. Which is a great shame, esp considering renoise is the
most stable piece of software I ever ran and IMHO the most rounded
musical application available under linux. I would love an open source
app, but there just aren't many options (without sacrificing both
features and stability). For me it's really like I pay 40 euro and can
concentrate on what it's all about.
But again it might just be me, and this was, as I said, not really an
accuse against torbenh, I guess it was just a "drop made my cup overflow"...

When I roll back this thread I couldn't find any lack of respect against
closed source app's or there users, but indeed, here on the list are a
bunch of ppl how like to use open source app's instead there close
source compensation, and I believe it isn't a lack of respect to say
that.

source applications,

and better. Because of being a close source app, it's obvious that there
is little JACK devs can do in this case if they don't provide more
information about the problem.

In any case it would be great to get the transport problem fixed in
renoise, and of course you're right it's the renoise devs responsibility

I'm not sure how relevant this is to the thread, but I've found the
Renoise devs to be extremely responsive and helpful when I've
contacted them about programming topics.
And yeah, as someone mentioned above, Renoise's level of stability and
overall quality of the software is exceptional, and I think it's
terrific that it's available (and maintained!) for Linux.
