Hello,
Does anyone know if it's possible to run Emagic Logic 6 on Linux ?
Since MAC OSX uses Linux, it should bemade possible , no ?
I would prefer to work with Logic,but I don't have the money to buy an apple ...

system. {Runs on power pc and intel} It would give you most of the linux stuff
anyway.

I would be surprised if Logic didn't use Apple's proprietary display
stuff like Carbon and Cocoa (and even for audio? Isn't CoreAudio
proprietary?), which is not available for Linux or even x86. In other
words I think the answer is "no chance in hell".
However, there's lot's of audio stuff available for Linux, offering lots
of control and flexibility. See http://linux-sound.org/
Maybe someone here can recommend a Live CD that contains some up-to-date
audio apps, or would work with AGNULA or something ...

Yeah, probably not.
I get the impression that Apple is working with the GNU folk on the above
system though

It would be in their best interests to open up development to the rest of the
world. You never know what may happen in the future.
I may build a machine to run this system... It looks like it may have a lot of
potential. It's a sort of "best of all possible technologies" thing.
However, there's lot's of audio stuff
available for Linux, offering lots
of control and flexibility. See http://linux-sound.org/
Maybe someone here can recommend a Live CD that contains some up-to-date
audio apps, or would work with AGNULA or something ...
The easiest way is just to set up apt and point it at planet CCRMA.

Yes I installed it and used it sometimes. You could connect sound card
on tcp network via client/server protocol.
It's a little bit like NAS.

I thought it was new. It would make X a lot nicer to have a completeish sound
system like this. The Perceptual-Time Dataflow thingy looks nifty as hell. Not
only sound but intelligent configuration {if I read this correctly}. Lots of
nifty apps as well.

Hm, Mac OS X runs a Darwin kernel, which is a kind of UNIX kernel,
but it's by no means a Linux (the kernel) system...
Mac OS X 10.4 is apparently going to be more Linux friendly,
so the rumours go.
But running OS X software on plain Linux, is not an option.
For one, the whole CoreAudio interface is lacking.
It is probably going to be easier to run Linux software
on OS X, but not the other way around.

Who gave you that idea? MacOS X's core Darwin is from the UNIX family, as is
Linux. This is why you can easily get UNIX software to run on MacOS X (you need
sourcecode though). But it doesn't normally work the other way round! Logic
isn't only based one the UNIX core of Mac OSX but on other, Mac-specific
software. Plus the sourcecode isn't available. One could create a compatibility
layer, such as WINE for Windows, but even if one existed (it doesn't AFAIK),
you'd still need a Mac to run Logic, because it won't work on a PC's
Intel/AMD/etc. processor.
The only way it could work would be to use a Mac emulator for PCs that runs
on Linux, but that would be much too slow for a sophisticated program like
Logic.
You could try and get Logic/Windows to work with WINE though.
Or ask Emagic for a native linux port - but since they cancelled the Windows
version that seems highly unrealistic.

No, OS X is actually built on top of a proprietary mutation of the BSD
kernel. It's not Linux, and has a lot of proprietary additions anyway.
On Linux, you could have a look at Rosegarden or Muse:
