Hi all,
I have a problem connecting my RME Multiface with cardbus (pcmcia) adaptor
to my Panasonic CF-T2 Notebook. I try to upload the firmware with
"hdsploader" but the card is not found. "dmesg" tells me that a
cardbus card
is inserted in the pcmcia slot:
[ 15.321066] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: pccard: CardBus card inserted
into slot 0
Can anybody help me or give some hints on further investigation?

Have you powered up the breakout box with an external powersupply ?

Yes of course, it also works on my other notebook on Linux and on the
Panasonic on Windows.

Florian knows a lot about the RME stuff, he helped me out some time ago - he may know from
other folks' experiences...
I assume (but don't know) that you would get the computer that you're willing to
pay for. I personally use a Sony Vaio Z which is NOT the cheapest but it just works and
everything just works (hardware wise).
There was a list some time ago in the german news magazine 'spiegel on-line' with
the most and least reliable laptops, if I remember well. Sony was on top (Apple was 2nd),
one of the big Taiwanese brands was on the other extreme.

ExpressCard is not so much an issue. Still I had problems with the
PowerManagment of the Centrino2 chipset in my Thinkpad X200. After a
BIOS update, the problem was gone.

do other cardbus cards work in this slot? reason i'm asking is i had
mysterious failures with my firewire card, followed by a complete
breakdown, and then i discovered that 3 pins in the slot were bent. talk
about major surgery to fix that. i ended up glueing my firewire card
into the slot, because i figured with the strained contacts, i'd get one
or two mating cycles at best :(
