hi all
below is a copy of my recent posting to VstOnLinux:
dssi-vst
these are all the vst plugins (so far) that i have managed to get
running with dssi-vst on a fedora core 2 planet ccrma box. one thing
i've noticed is that dssi-vst won't load a plugin that has spaces in
its name, even if you call it with the appropriate command (ie -
jack-dssi-host dssi-vst.so:Synful\ Orchestra\ VST.dll). i've
experimented a little bit with just manually deleting the spaces in
the filename, but no luck so far ... surely something simple.
i am using wine20041201 - i would recommend upgrading to this latest
release, as it seems to run almost anything (even steinberg's
wavelab).
sorry about lumping all of these plugins together like this, but i
really can't be bothered completing this form for each individual one
:(
all of these, unless specifically mentioned are fully-working and
usable within muse/rosegarden. interestingly, if you install
steinberg's wavelab, then as far as i can tell every vst effect plugin
will work ... more testing needed though.

wow, that did! strange though - i had to manually install vsthost and
dssi-vst-gui: when i tried to call them, they weren't there, so i had to
copy those to my bin directory manually ...

sort of audio-latency one has to be used to work wine/VST on linux. one

cubase) on the wine side(ie on windows) or thess VST's can straight be
used with a linux app.(like ROsegarden) ?
VST's are very powerful thing and to use them with something like rosegarden
would be killer

i am using

Latency is (generally) very high when I run Windows audio apps under
Alsa directly. However, when using VSTs and jack_fst the latency is
identical (in my experience) to any other Jack app and can be
controlled by qjackctl.
Not a problem using VSTs with Rosegarden. Just remember that they wil
normally run *outside* of RG and you'll be hooking them up manually.
It does work though.
