Care to say a bit about how it was made?
The stereo panning filter is very nice, and the pads sound lovely (but
I suspect they are hardware?)

There's no outboard equipment involved. The bellalike sounding synth
and the bass synth are selfcoded in Csound and controlled in realtime
via midi. For the drums I created an own Hydrogen drumkit from some
samples I found on a cd called "the electro age" from steinberg. The
strings are a freeware soundfont called "tron strings" (don't know where
I found it) played by MusE's internal fluidsynth. And some LADSPA
effects like TAP autopanner for the bell synth.
Everything (even Hydrogen) sequenced in MusE, recorded in Ardour and
mastered with Jamin.

Damn, that's impressive! I really like it.
I'd sure like to find a way to pull off that sort of
electronic sounds with native synths instead of
samples. I've pulled off some really interesting
stuff by jacking ZynAddSubFX through Freqtweak but
nothing like that (yet!)

Csound is really great for experimenting with sounds and with Csound5
you can also use Jack for realtime in- and output. The synth sounding
like a bell is a really simple Csound instrument: Just a sine wave with
long attack and realease time. The bass synth is a little more complex
because it uses some layered freerunning saw, square and sine waves.
P.S. I didn't even know you *could* sequence
hydrogen
from an external. Care to go into a little bit more
detail on what this entails?
Hydrogen accepts note-on messages, so you can trigger its samples via
midi. I created one standard drum pattern in MusE, copied it all over
the whole song and varied every single pattern by hand.

I just wrote a followup to the other james.

No. The drumkit samples (no loops used, the beat is hand-sequenced) are
all from a sample cd called "the electro age" from steinberg and "sounds
good" (the series is called sounds&cycles).
