Hi folks,
I need to buy a mobile áudio interface to give some linux áudio workshops
here in Brazil.
I saw some options listed "suported" in the ffado database, but also lots of
forums with people saying they can't use that devices in their machines.
So, I'm very afraid of buying something that won't work, and this interfaces
here in Brazil are very very expensive... : (
Could you suggest me some interfaces that are guaranteed to work for me?
I was especially thinking about the edirol fa-66.
my laptop is a hp pavillion dv6700 with ubuntu 8.04

Just to end this thread..
I bought an Edirol Fa-66 and, after installing a fresh ubuntu studio, it was
almost plug and play!
uhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
Jack is stable using freebob with 4ms latency --- sample rate is 48kHz ///
64 frames/period /// 3 periods buffer
My laptop is an HP Pavillion 6700 running ubuntu studio 8.04 with kernel
2.6.24-19-rt
the firewire chipset is: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller
The only thing I had to do was:
# modprobe raw1394
and then change it's permission on /dev/raw1394

issue? Midi has been part of freebob/ffado from the early days.

might or might not cause issues. If you have a revision
02 version, you are in for troubles. If you have a revision 05 version
the problems can be circumvented. And we have one report that the
revision 08 works very well.

revisions. Missed the fact that this is about a different ricoh controller.
So my remarks are not valid for the R5C832 controller, only for the
R5C556 controller.
