I've been writing and recording music in Windows now for about a year
and a half (if you want to hear my music - some mp3's can be found at
http://www.ldscompanion.com/music/artists/PI/ )... I got completely
sick of windows, and switched to Linux, and for about 5 months now, I've
been trying to successfully get my computer to see my keyboard through a
Sound Blaster Audigy's front-panel MIDI connectors with no luck. I'm
just about to go back to windows. Please - if anyone knows where I can
find any good info, point me in the right direction. :)
OS - MDK 9.1
Software - MusE .6.0rc5
Hardware - Roland RS-9 keyboard and SB Audigy Platinum EX.

Hello Jason,
Could you elaborate on what you have tried, did you use ALSA, if so which
version, what config-tricks have you tried?
I've got a Audigy with LiveDrive, I haven't used the midi-port, but I did have
a stab at getting the remote control to work, and indeed it did, but it was
far from obvious. As far as I can tell the remote-control uses a midi-port
for it's data so I may be able to help.
It was a while though so I can't remember exactly what it was that should be
done...
You may also try the alsa-user mailinglist.
I did try a few months back to enable the audio-input on the LiveDrive also,
but I had no success with that, it may have improved though...

hi,
assuming you are using ALSA (www.alsa-project.org), there is a known
issue with the midi on the front panel, see

the alsa list (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/) also has a link
about the Driver Status, go check it out. amongs other things it
says: "- MPU401 - implemented - should work but not tested".
i have only a SB Live myself, successfully use a gameport-to-midi
adapter, and just realise that that is no option for you as the SB
Audigy has no gameport connector!
so, hopefully someone else can expand on the latest SB Audigy's
Driver Status on the ALSA page && midi...

Audigy 2 support is now added in the SourceForge EMU10K1 code.

I have no idea if these drivers are synced with the alsa-stuff
but anyway it should be worth a try. Since they come from
Creative directly chances are that they support more features
than alsa's.
