version of ubuntu studio on my shiny new intel i7 860 system.??

I'm not using Ubuntu Studio, but Fedora 12 x64 is amazingly stable. It
should be using a similar RT kernel, if not the same. Unless you have
some app that's only compiled in 32bit and you're not able to make a
64bit version, go x64.

Which should be included in the CCRMA metafile for yum. Whoever is keeping F12 CCRMA
repo up to date is doing an amazing job. They deserve a medal!

This may be a problem, because ordinary Fedora musical applications
can't be used with CCRMA's core (kernel, jackd, etc.), I think.

If an application is built to use the ALSA or Jack API's then it should
be able to use CCRMA's kernel or jack. It does not matter if the
application was built within the Fedora or the Planet CCRMA

Applications like Ardour and many others that used to be part of the
Planet CCRMA repositories have migrated to Fedora (so you won't find
them in the aforementioned pages). The less applications that are left
in Planet CCRMA the better, as Fedora then becomes more complete in
audio terms out of the box.
