Two meters that seemingly do the same thing.
But not. PCM seems hotter and more brittle.

This is just a practical answer. Use PCM and MASTER and leave HEADPHONE
alone.

Mixer controls behave in whatever way the designer of the chip in
question thought they should behave.
(The preceding sentence is not always correct; no actual thought might
have been involved.)
