Subject: [linux-audio-user] Audio distortion with DMA enabled

Hi,
I'm having problems with sound on my pc - a crackling sound. This only
occours when DMA is turned on and there is ide disc access. It seems to
be independent of the DMA speed. Also there is the same problem in
windows with the manufacturers drivers. Here are my PC specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-7VRXP
Chipset: VIA KT333 / VIA VT8233A
Onboard sound: Creative CT5880, Sigmatel 9721T CODEC (using alsa
ens1371)
I have also tried out another sound card (but with the same driver) with
the same problems.
I have heard that a BIOS PCI Latency setting can help this problem but
cannot see this option in my bios.
Thanks,
Adam
