Also be aware that you cannot capture and playback through all 8 ports at 24bits. I didn't realise that when I bought it and was slightly dissapointed when I found out. In general If I could purchase again I would go for a device with at least 6 outputs for DJing purposes. But that probably would require at least another year of debugging whereas this has been almost finished for the quattro. Another thing is that I can use tX provided I have the correct settings for the mouse (usb or ps/2). well finally i seem to have managed to upgrade to cvs alsa!!! after all of that... fresh install of mandrake 9.0.... i'm now suspecting theres a serious bug in the supplied version of alsa with mdk 9.0 (0.9rc2)... it was loading fine but playing with terrible distortion... since upgrading to CVS it plays crystal clear :-) i found that i couldnt remove the alsa packages supplied with mandrake, but as these are only the libs anyhow, i tarred up the alsa modules from /lib/modules/2.4.16-19mdk/kernel/sound and then erased everything in the directory.... compiled and installed alsa cvs.. and everything has loaded and working fine.... no conflicts, no probs... strangely though, i cant get my modem working.... which makes me wonder if it might be the old modem conflicting with sound bug again.... never happened in mdk8.2 though... oh well, its working anyway :) thanks heaps everyone for your help :) bw m~ -- iriXx www.iriXx.org copyleft: creativity, technology and freedom? info(a)copyleftmedia.org.uk www.copyleftmedia.org.uk _ ( ) ascii ribbon against html email X / \ cat /dev/sda1 > /dev/dsp *** stopping make sense ***
