Hi,
If this is inappropriate for this list then let me know. Basically
anything running using xine as a backend, as well as xmms, only plays
some of my flac files. Many it won't play. I've just installed the patch
libxine-main1_1.1.1+ubuntu2-7.2+patch1_i386.deb but to do it I had to
uninstall libexine1 first, then reinstall everything else (by that I mean
amarok and kmplayer) but that also installed libxine1 as well, but I don't
know if that has incorporated the patch or just overwritten it.
Amarok still does not play many of my flacs. Juk however does play _all my
flacs, and I've tried to find out what it's using but I've been unable to.
Due to personal preferance I dislike juk.
There are therefore 2 things going on here. What's the difference between
the flac files that xine-backended stuff can play and those it can't, and
why can juk play them and why can't xine? And have I installed thepatch
adn how can I tell?
Apologies if this is all dumbass. Tell me which fm to rt if I need to.
Are the "unplayable" FLACs very short? I've had problems playing very
short FLAC files in mplayer, but I don't know how to fix that either.
They are "normal" song length, between 3 and 5 minutes. All of the songs
are from particular albums; for example the flac files for Corey
Russell's Days of Noah play, but none off Ancient Paths. None of my Living
Sacrifice plays, but all Misty Edwards. All of them are flac.
