Hallo,

You probably did "modprobe snd-usb-audio" in real life?
lsmod reports:
root 19:16:02> lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
snd-usb-audio 47232 0 (unused)
...
soundcore 4548 4 (autoclean) [snd]
Looks better, but not yet good.
and the log reports the same when plugging in the 2x2:
Mar 22 19:14:08 umatic1 hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.0-1, assigned address 36
Mar 22 19:14:08 umatic1 usb.c: USB device 36 (vend/prod 0x763/0x1001) is
not claimed by any active driver.
Mar 22 19:14:11 umatic1 /etc/hotplug/usb/ezusbmidi: load
/usr/share/usb/ezusbmidi/ezusbmidi2x2.ihx for 763/1001/1 to
It simply doesn't know where to load the ezusbmidi driver to....
hmmm.....
...starting to really *love* antique 8-bit technology... :-)
Actually USB can be plug and play with most devices, but you just
gotta "love" M-Audio for always doings something the other way than
usual.
I am quite sure, that somewhere in the alsa-user|devel archives there
must be a solution.
ciao
